4th Quarter Reading Book Review

A Lion’s Tale by Chris Jericho. Grand Central Publishing, 2008. Genre: Autobiographical Novel
A Lion’s Tail, is Chris Jericho writing about his life. Chris is known best for being a WWE superstar and as the lead singer in the heavy metal band, Fozzy. Chris starts of as a little kid growing up in Winnipeg, and his grandma getting him into wrestling. Ever since then, he knew that he would grow up to be a pro wrestler. He trained in the infamous Hart Dungeon in Canada..While in Canada, he worked in many school gyms and bars. He also worked in Mexico, Germany and Japan. He spent a lot of time in local tents, clubs and famous halls. Finally, he ended up in the US working with the WCW and the WWE. Chris had many crazy adventures before making it into the big times and becoming the first Undisputed Champion.
"Funny, insightful, and compulsively readable ... His hilarious and detailed descriptions of his many bouts, especially his 1995 ‘calling card’ in Japan ... will leave readers hoping for a sequel."-Publishers Weekly
Chris Jericho writing style is so easy to read. He uses such vivid descriptions, even thought they are about the smallest things from 30 years ago. His writing is funny and provocative, which for me makes it fun to read. It doesn’t remind me of any other book I’ve read, because I’ve never read a book like this. The only book I can compare it to is Enders Game, because they are the only books I have read that I’ve liked recently (last 10 years). I don’t really find books that I like, which is a big reason why I don’t really like to read. But, this book is an exception. I really enjoyed this book.
"He was right, and whenever I tried out a new catchphrase, if it appeared on a sign over the next few shows, (like Ayatollah of Rock N Rolla) I knew I had a winner."( 446).
I am a fan of Chris Jericho and I loved the way he wrote this book. He wrote in a way that seemed very unique to me. Since he’s not a writer, his writing style is raw and simple. Now that I know more about Chris Jericho, I feel he is more than just a famous wrestler. I loved the way he talked about his memories, good or bad. Chris Jericho has a New York Times Bestseller here, and a great book.

Fair Lady

My Fair lady I give you my good-bye,
I must take off on my trusty steed
so away fair Lady, now I must fly
to do my noble and chivalrous deed

I shall miss your beautiful golden locks
but I fight for the bigger, larger cause
go back to the kitchen, put on thy frocks
I will protect you from the dragon's jaws.

The dragon has burned and killed many lands
and the king has called upon us to defend
so please dear maiden take off thy hands
goodbye for now my love, this war must end.

I went into battle later that day
but I was too scared so I ran away...
